Cognitive Consulting & Programs

These activities are evidence based practices that are well grounded in social learning, adult learning and cognitive restructuring theory.  Cognitive skills have been shown to reduce antisocial behavior and recidivism.

Participants are required to categorize thinking and feelings by examining what thinking makes them feel good and/or bad.  They are required to find a logical sequence and determine how different thinking could lead to different results.

Thinking Matters is a set of 5 worksheets designed to teach the most basic cognitive skills.  These worksheets help participants strip away excuses and blame toward others.  The participant is required to view situations through personal responsibility.

The worksheets teach people how their thinking helps them make decisions.  This is done by looking at thinking and feelings in an objective fashion.  These thoughts and feelings are examined for meaning, sequence and discussed in a non-judgmental atmosphere.

How Thinking Matters Works

This thinking usually excludes the rights of others or any possibility of a “win-win” outcome.  Most situations are viewed through a “win-lose” framework.
